Pushkar – The Sacred City
Pushkar is one of the oldest and most sacred cities in India. Located just 11 km from Ajmer in the Thar Desert, it sits on the shores of the holy Pushkar Lake and is home to over 500 temples.
Brahma Temple
The Brahma Temple in Pushkar is one of the very few temples in the world dedicated to Lord Brahma. According to legend, it was built 2000 years ago. The main shrine houses a four-headed Brahma idol.
Pushkar Lake & Ghats
The Pushkar Lake has 52 ghats (bathing steps) where pilgrims take a holy dip. The most important is Brahma Ghat. A dip in the lake is believed to cleanse all sins.
Savitri Temple
Dedicated to Brahma's wife Savitri, this temple sits atop a hill. A ropeway now connects the base to the top, offering breathtaking views of Pushkar and the surrounding desert.
Pushkar Bazaar
The vibrant Pushkar market sells everything from silver jewellery and handicrafts to spices and tie-dye fabrics. Bargaining is the norm here.
